First Impression story
This is my best friend, Mark. We met in high school 15 years
ago. We had the same math class and we both were terrible at math. At first I
thought he was a funny, friendly guy. He was hard-working too. He would always
stay after class to work on his homework. After high school, his girlfriend left
him and he started drinking. He became serious and lazy. He wasn’t the Mark
that I used to know.
One day he met a new girl named Lisa. Lisa always made him go shopping even though he hated it. One day, while shopping he got an idea for an app. The app would help the boyfriends of girls who shopped too often.
Before he could start his business he needed to save money so he worked several jobs as a waiter, busboy, and barista. Since he was working so much, Lisa left him. This time, however, he didn’t start drinking but he started working harder and called tech companies to get his app made. He called his friend Ihsan. Ihsan said, “I can’t help you” and Mark was sad but he was smart and determined.
Mark decided to take on one more new job as a pastry chef. He made the most delicious cakes in town. Everyone thought he was very generous because he offered free Wifi in his café. Along with the free wifi he promoted his new app. His app became a success and he made a lot of money. The café made him happy so he didn’t quit his job as head chef.
One day I came in and ordered a coffee and we talked about our high school days. I also asked him if he was good with the coffee shop budget and he said he wasn’t and needed and accountant. Now, I can see he is the same old Mark that I knew from high school.
