Scavenger Hunt

SCAVENGER HUNT

You and your partner(s) are going to RACE to complete as many of the questions below as possible.  The team who finds / completes the most questions correctly will win!
RULES TO REMEMBER:  
  1. You don't have to go outside if you don't want to but you won't be able to complete all of the questions.
  2. You MUST stay in a group. You cannot separate to complete more questions more quickly. If you catch another group doing this let me know and they will receive a penalty for cheating. This also means you can only use ONE phone and ONE computer for this game.
  3. The harder the question, the more points it’s worth.

Ready, Set, Go!!

  1. Name 5 adjectives on the candy downstairs in the convenience store. (5)
  2. How many flavors of popcorn do they have at Garretts? (10)
  3. Write two overheard quotes in reported speech. (10)
  4. How many floors are there in the Harold Washington Library? (5)
  5. How much is a Venti Latte at Starbucks? (5)
  6. How many students are enrolled at Stafford House right now? (5)
  7. What’s a good souvenir you can take home from Chicago? Where can you get it and how much does it cost? (10)
  8. Name 5 Brown Line stops in the LOOP? (5)
  9. Where is a Divvy Station near Stafford House? Give the intersection. (5)
  10. What bus can you take to get to the Museum Campus from Stafford House? (5)
  11. Where can you do yoga downtown? (5)
  12. Take a group photo (everyone has to be in it) with 3 Chicago landmarks. (15)
  13. Where can you get a RedEye newspaper to practice reading English? (5)
  14. Take a picture of someone in your group doing at least 3 of these movements: (15)
    1. Walking PAST something
    2. Walking DOWN the stairs
    3. Walking OUT the door

  15. Take a picture of an example of VANDALISM (for example, graffiti) (10)
  16. Find one historical marker in downtown Chicago--what is it for? (A marker is a sign which tells you what happened at this location in the past--there are quite a few downtown) (10)
  17. Go to the DePaul Barnes & Noble bookstore on Jackson and State St. Find a Romance Novel and write down the 10th sentence on page 27. Take a picture of the book. (15)
  18. Locate and photograph a member of your group in front of the sign showing where Route 66 begins downtown. (**Hint, near the brown line across from the Art Institute) (10)
  19. Find and photograph a member of your group with a sign prohibiting you from doing something--it says that you CAN’T / MUST NOT do something. (10)
  20. Take a group photo (everyone has to be in it) in front of the Lions at the Art Institute of Chicago. (15)
  21. Write walking directions to the famous Berghoff restaurant from Stafford House. Be detailed! (10)
  22. What is the official name of the fountain with all the faces that spits out water in Millennium Park? (5)
  23. Take a picture of a Chicago sports fan. (He or She must be wearing some Chicago sports team clothing) (10)
  24. Which is the Chicago street where we start counting North/South(10)
  25. Take a picture of a member of your group under the iconic clock at Macy’s on State St. (10)
  26. What is currently written on the marquis (the big sign with lights) at the Chicago Theater? (15)
  27. Who designed the building that Target is in? (5)
  28. How many teachers are there at Stafford House? For 5 extra points--what are their names? (5; 1 extra point for each teacher's name if it's spelled correctly)
  29. Chicago is only 1 of 4 Stafford House Centers in the U.S.A. Where are the other 3? (5)
  30. Find / Take a picture of at least 2 haunted buildings in downtown Chicago. (15)
  31. Find three different LOCAL coffee shops located downtown. Where are they located?  (“LOCAL” means that it’s a Chicago business / company NOT a national/international one. Not Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts folks!) (10)
  32. If I want to buy groceries while downtown, where can I go? Find 2 grocery stores located downtown--where are they located? (**Hint: Chicago only has a few big grocery store chains so if you search for those you can find their locations) (5)
  33. America is a country of immigrants. List at least one restaurant downtown (and its location) where I can get authentic food from each of these countries: Italy, Greece, Spain, Mexico, Russia, Japan (2 points for each nationality) (12)
  34. Name 5 Chicago neighborhoods. (5)
  35. Chicago has many professional sports teams. Name 5 and also list their sport (for example: the women’s soccer team is the Chicago Red Stars) (10)
